Grinding is divided into dry grinding and wet grinding. Dry grinding is not wet with water. Wet grinding is to lubricate the coating with water or other wetting agent to obtain a smoother surface and wash away the dust. For example, when polishing nitrocellulose lacquer and perchloroethylene lacquer, it is not only moistened with water but also moistened with pine perfume. In order to improve the decorativeness of the topcoat, it can be polished with very fine water sandpaper before polishing, and soapy water can also be used as a wetting agent.
The main purpose of grinding is to remove burrs and debris on the surface of the substrate, such as floating rust, etc.; to eliminate the particle, roughness and unevenness of the coated surface of the workpiece, such as the surface of the putty after drying, the surface is rough and uneven. It is necessary to polish to obtain a smooth surface; enhance the adhesion of the coating. The adhesion of the paint on a smooth surface is poor, and the mechanical adhesion of the coating can be enhanced after grinding, so sanding is one of the important tasks to improve the coating effect.
